Forza Horizon 6 takes racing fans to the gorgeous roads of Japan, and just like previous games in the series, it brings back the thrill of hunting down legendary vehicles hidden away in old barns. One of the coolest off-roaders you can add to your collection this time around is the 1997 Mitsubishi Montero Evolution—a true Dakar Rally legend.

How to Unlock the Barn Find Rumor

You can't just drive out to the wilderness and look for the barn right away; you need to trigger the rumor first.

The Prerequisite: You need to progress through the "Discover Japan" campaign activities until you earn the Orange Stamp.

The Notification: As soon as you secure that Orange Stamp, your map will update with a purple Barn Find rumor circle hovering over the Shimanoyama region.

Step-by-Step Spawn Location

Once the rumor circle is active, make your way over to the western part of the map toward Shimanoyama. Here is how to pinpoint the exact location:

Find the Switchbacks: Look at the eastern side of the Shimanoyama region on your map. You want to look for a very distinct, paved mountain pass packed with consecutive, sharp hairpin turns.

Drive to the Top: Head over to that road and enjoy the climb all the way to the summit of these hairpins.

Spot the Hidden Trail: Right as you reach the top and the road begins to straighten out, slow down and look immediately to your east. You will see a narrow, unmarked dirt trail breaking off into the dense tree line.

Follow the Path to the Barn: Turn onto this dirt path and follow it as it winds downhill toward the east. The trail dead-ends right in front of a secluded wooden barn.

Drive up to the doors to trigger the cutscene, and the Montero Evolution is yours!

Restoring Your Vehicle

After the cutscene plays out, the battered SUV will be sent over to your garage.

Because this is a battle-tested Dakar icon, it comes with plenty of noticeable wear and tear, especially on the front bumper. The Horizon garage crew will need some time to completely rebuild and restore it to its former glory.

If you are impatient, you can always drop some credits to speed up the restoration process.
