So I'm at a bit of a crossroads with my 2014 A4 1.8 TFSI and I could really use some honest advice from people who've been through something similar. The car has the multitronic CVT and it's been absolutely fine for the five years I've owned it, but recently I've started noticing this really unsettling shudder or vibration when accelerating from a standstill, especially when the engine is cold. It feels almost like the transmission is struggling to get the power down, like the belt is slipping or the pulley system is worn, and it's making me really nervous about driving the car. I took it to a garage and they confirmed it's a transmission issue, quoted me something like 8,000 AED for a rebuild, which honestly made me question whether it's even worth fixing at this point. The car itself has about 130,000 kilometers on it and is probably only worth around 20,000 AED in good condition, so sinking nearly half that into a transmission rebuild feels like throwing good money after bad. I'm seriously considering just trading it in for something newer and letting it be someone else's problem, but another part of me feels like I should at least get a second opinion from a specialist before I make a decision. I've seen a place that offers Audi CVT Gearbox Repair Abu Dhabi and I'm wondering if I should take it there for a proper diagnosis before I give up on the car completely. I guess what I'm really asking is, has anyone else had a CVT shudder on their A4 and had it successfully repaired, and if so, how much did it cost and was it worth it in the end? Or would I be better off just cutting my losses and moving on to a different car? I'm genuinely torn because I've really enjoyed owning this car but I don't want to make a financially stupid decision either. Any advice from people who've been through this would be massively appreciated right now.
