I’m preparing for a longer-distance relocation and have started researching the best long distance moving company for the move.

Long-distance moving seems quite different from a short local move because belongings will spend more time in transportation. I’m especially concerned about making sure furniture, appliances, boxes, and fragile items are properly protected and secured during the journey.

For anyone who has completed a long-distance move, what should I consider when comparing moving companies? I’m interested in hearing about communication, scheduling, pricing, insurance or protection options, loading procedures, and how the company handles delivery.

I’m also wondering whether it is better to pack everything myself or use professional packing assistance for a long-distance relocation.

If you’ve recently hired the best long distance moving company for your own move, I’d appreciate hearing about your experience and any advice you would give someone preparing for a similar relocation.
